One of those projects that, aptly enough, refuses to die. Steve and I wanted to do something influenced by spaghetti westerns and I came up with this story about a wronged dude who literally comes back from the grave to take revenge on those that put him there. We’ve got a bunch of characters and story fleshed out that we’ll undoubtedly come back to, but Steve created this incredible piece of music from my lyrics.
Dead flowers on an empty grave
Don’t mourn for him, girl
Be brave
You cannot follow where he rides
You must stay here, girl
And live your life
Some say, “Die, Deadman, Die!”
La la la la
Guns answer, bullets fly
Die, Deadman, Die!
Dead men follow him down
You can mourn for them, girl
In the ground
What doesn’t live can’t be killed
You must let him go, girl
But love him still
Never say, “Die, Deadman, Die!”
La la la la
Guns answer, bullets fly
Die, Deadman, Die!
Maybe you will have to let him go
When he finds a place to lie
Maybe he will have to be alone
In the ground
Dead girl he could not save
All alone now but for his rage
Deadman you gotta take one last ride
The Devil’s waiting, it’s time to fly
They say the day Deadman died
La la la la
Satan called, dead guns replied
Must be a lie
Some say the Deadman fell
La la la la
Sits there then a new King of Hell
Die, Deadman, Die!
Die! Why won’t you die?
