Oh boy…

I kinda slept on Enterprise when it first aired. I watched the pilot and enjoyed it, but didn’t keep up. If Star Trek fatigue is a thing, I had it. I’ve seen a handful of episodes over the years, but I’m now tackling it properly and fast approaching the first season finale. It’s a fun show.

It also leans into my own favourite reading of the franchise; Vulcans are insufferable pricks. The McCoy Principal. See also Elves in LOTR.

Scott Bakula as Captain Archer, probably wondering why his ship has dropped out of warp again.

I don’t care too much about the lore, but I’ve always been a big fan of Scott Bakula – and his Captain Archer is a great lead. I also like the Enterprise NX-01 way better than that stupid-shaped thing they lumbered Patrick Stewart with. Mostly though, I’m ignoring the Star Trek stuff (the bridge crew are currently vacationing on Planet Fuck) and just enjoying the 1960s space-submarine show of it all.

Back when we shot CAPER in LA and Scott jumped on a plane to join us for a day, I was too busy being a Quantum Leap fanboy to think about his stint with Starfleet. But once he stepped into the character I’d written, all that faded away. That moment – when an actor you’ve admired becomes someone you created –  never gets old.

At some point I’ll add a little more detail to the CAPER section of the site, but for now here’s one of my favourite shots from the day we all got to play pretend with Scott Bakula.

Scott Bakula, Amy Berg, Abby Miller and me.

Merica Adams will return…

My inane babbling somehow lead to Dave’s design for the Paradox Pistol

Slowly working on adding more meat to the website’s bones.

First up is a little background and an update on one of my favourite projects. There’s a link in the sidebar (or the lowbar if you’re on a phone).

Just follow the gun and you’ll find the girl.

Compared to KING KONG (1933) Schoedsack‘s DR CYCLOPS (1940) is a pretty tired affair but it has some wonderful visuals.

Ready. Not ready.

The original is my favourite John Woo movie.

It’s also possibly the movie I’ve watched the most times.

Seems nuts they didn’t even mention John Woo on the poster.

“I’ll teach you how to Road War, Thomas.”
