Mike Sizemore is an award-winning writer based in London and Los Angeles, working across comics, screen, stage, and prose.
His two-volume children’s adventure FETCH recently won the INDIES Book of the Year Award as “one of the most outstanding works representing a significant contribution to the literary landscape.” Other graphic novels include the sci-fi horror epic John Carpenter’s VORTEX and the ongoing John Carpenter’s TALES FOR A HALLOWEEN NIGHT, where he is a regular contributor.
Mike created the cult TV pitch SLINGERS (once dubbed “the best TV show never made”), the WGA-nominated Hulu series CAPER, and the genre-bending time-travel action hero MERICA ADAMS. His stage work includes adapting HOWL’S MOVING CASTLE for the London stage and the libretto for THE NIGHT BRIDE, an opera that premiered in Vienna, based on his original comic of the same name.
A professional writer for over 25 years, Mike’s short fiction and essays on film, television, and culture have appeared in a wide range of publications. He is currently focused on developing new screenplays and fiction projects under the MIDNIGHT QUATERMASS banner, which also includes his regular newsletter SIGNAL LOSS and the YouTube series THERE’S A SCENE, each exploring genre storytelling through a personal lens.
He lives in London with his partner Jess, their two children, a Norwegian Forest Cat, and a Border Collie with more energy than sense.
Mike is a member of both the WGAW and the Society of Authors. He holds a BA in Classical & English Literature and an MA in Postmodern Detective Fiction & Westerns, both of which turned out to be unexpectedly useful.
This site pulls everything into one place, including the old blog, which now doubles as a kind of digital jotter for in-progress ideas and updates.
