Tears in the rain…

Reading the classics

Posted on May 22, 2024July 13, 2024

This followed another of those conversations with Steve and Dave. It’s amazing any of us get any work done with the rabbit holes we traverse.

Only a few pages in and this is already kicking my arse. Very 70s.

If you rely on trigger warnings this is not the read for you. If they edited that stuff out it’d be like 6 pages long.

I’ve got an itch to start writing about movies again. Not sure I need another newsletter. Here? Not sure anyone is reading it. Haven’t mentioned it. I know a few people swing by… got a lot on at the moment so this may be just my stupid brain’s way of procrastinating. When I surface again I’ll give it some serious thought.

It’s THE EARTH DIES SCREAMING (1964) by the way.

“Only six of these cameras were ever made.

Only five of them ever worked. We have four of those.“

Finally a chance to check out the over-the-head Ettinaur 226XL cameras in 4K. ❤️ Albert Brooks.

To be honest…

John mentioning our work never gets old. Working with him is still a trip.

It’s What’s Inside That Counts

Here’s a WIP panel from Dave that I’m currently in love with.

She’s a nod to the Fembots in Bionic Woman and Beyond Westworld 1980.

May have to get a tattoo.

There’s a 95 pound fucked-up thing with a ring behind this Black Gate

You can now enjoy my bullshit over on Threads. This time you get to blame George.

AKA DEAD ALIVE (1992)

Posted on May 9, 2024July 13, 2024

I don’t begrudge you another completely unnecessary LOTR movie but I do wish we could get this Peter Jackson back for one more movie.

Seeing the premiere of BRAINDEAD at Frightfest back in ‘92 was such a fantastic cinema experience. So much cheering. Same thing happened when I saw THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING (2001) in a packed Times Square cinema (had so many good movie adventures in NYC), but this was way more intimate. I’d found my tribe and they were fucking loud.
